Scary...

Came back from football tonight and had to drive past an overturned car on the motorway...it could have been us if we were 30 seconds or so earlier.

I hope to god he/she/they are OK...:(

Get ahead in your Second Life, Argyle (again!) and Geography

After going to the I.T lecture on Friday it appeared that a lot of the group doesn't really rate Second Life. They think it is boring etc, and to an extent they would be right. However, i believe that if you put in a lot, you will get a lot back out of it.
As the whole game area is so vast, you can go long periods of time without seeing a single "person". When you do though, make an effort to find out about them, and they may give you free things in return! One guy gave me L$100 to start me off, another guy invited me to his warehouse, which is rammed full of free clothes, houses, vehicles...and you can take what you like!
I asked this guy if i could advertise his warehouse to you I.T-class guys in this blog and he said it was OK. So, if you want loads of freebies, go into search, then type in "Longstaffs BUCKSHEE Warehouse", then click on teleport when it comes up...
Another tip...don't go skydiving and forget to set the auto-release on your parachute before you jump :(
Moving on...
Argyle drew 1-1 away at QPR. Referee was a knobhead, gave them a goal which should never have been allowed and then sent off our captain, and goalscorer, for kicking the ball away (second yellow card). Ironically, if the ref hadn't made some idiotic decisions, our player wouldn't have been frustrated into kicking the ball away! Got a feeling that we may not make the playoffs now, which is a shame. Still think we can go further in the FA Cup though, here's hoping anyway!
Geography at 9.15am tomorrow, it's boring...

March is going to be awesome!

Why?

Well, there's only going to be 4 home Argyle matches this month!!!

First sees the visit of Tony, "The Snake", Pulis' Stoke City team On Saturday March 3rd (3pm). This is going to be a good game, and a good chance to let our ex-manager know just how much of a knobhead he is! Yeah, he kept us up last year which was his main objective. However, there are some big reasons as to why he is such a T**T:

1. He purposefully did not renew the contracts of our best players, so that it would be easier to sign them for the club he is now at, and was always going to return to, at the end of the season. Luckily, we managed to renew Norris and Doumbe's contracts, however it does look like Capaldi will be leaving...probably to Stoke.

2. He used club funds to scout foreign players who he was never going to sign for us anyway,

3. He alienated the youth team coach (who has now left the club) and purposefully did not bring our youth players on to give them experience, in the games we had left in the season, after we had guaranteed survival.

and much more...

He is going to get slated, BIG TIME, at that game and i for one can't wait!

Next is the FA Challenge Cup 6th Round (Quarter Final) match against Watford on Sunday 11th March (6pm). This one is live on the BBC, so if you can't get a ticket, then make sure you watch it on the telly box! We're gonna win this one, i can feel it in my bones!
Three days later, on Wednesday 14th March (7.45pm) we host Barnsley in a match we really should be looking to win. We need to keep up the pressure on the teams above us if we're going to have any chance to make the playoffs.

Finally we invite Crystal Palace to Home Park on Saturday March 17th. Again, we should be looking to win this one...

I'm also seeing my girlfriend twice this month! It's very difficult to arrange the time to meet up, but i will be going over on the 7th March-11th March. Yeah i know, the 11th tis the FA Cup match...i'm getting a very early flight back, so i won't miss it! I will be missing the lecture on the 9th March though, so sorry about that.
The next time i see her, she'll be over here, so i may bring her to the lecture to say hi to you all! i don't know if she'll appreciate this, but here is a picture of her, lol!

That photo, BTW, was taken at Jongleurs Comedy Club, in Bristol. Excellent night out, very highly recommended!!!

FA Cup, Missing Lectures and Second Life (again)

So.

Hi again. Long time no blog! Sorry about that, i'll explain in a little while...

Firstly though, Argyle are AWESOME!!! We're through to the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup, the lowest-placed team in the league left in the competition. We have a real chance against Watford, we're at home (and on fire), they are on a poor run of form, with no confidence...we could win this one, and get a place in the semi-finals. I've never had anything like this in my years of supporting Argyle, so it's quite an exciting time at the moment!

Sorry for missing the lecture. I had booked a 3 night stay in a hotel for myself and my Northern Irish girlfriend, Cherith, for Valentine's Day, ages ago...well, a few weeks before i knew which lectures i was studying. As a result, i couldn't go back on it, as she had booked flights etc. It's quite tough trying to balance everything, in terms of Uni, work and visiting my girlfriend and can be quite stressful trying to fit everything into not much time at all...i'll be in tomorrow ;)

Second Life is starting to get quite addictive. It is a really fun way of meeting some quite extraordinary characters...and some less savoury ones...

On my first day, i asked a girl if she could help me with getting some free clothes and with other control-based issues. She helped me out to start with, seemed quite nice...until she asked me to follow her (ie, she went somewhere, then offered me a teleport to her location). She took me to a sex shop! I made my excuses and left, of course. There seems to be quite a lot of casinos within the second-life world, and some of these have topless dancers roaming around in them, which again shows the seedier element of the game.
Then there was Paradise Island, a place where you can take a partner to enjoy some...shall we say, nocturnal activity. I flew into what appeared to be a secret area under a picturesque waterfall, only for this (censored in places) scene to greet me:

Ooh er!!!

Also, i've found some pretty cool things, which i've taken snapshots on...nothing like above, mind! So i'll save them to a USB stick and bring them in to show y'all tomorrow...

Work, Sky One Sundays & Second Life

Well, work was work...NEXT!!!

I gotta say, I love Sky One on Sunday nights! Dream Team at 8pm, 24 at 9pm and Lost is back (!!!) at 10pm.

Now, I don't normally watch TV - a little Neighbours here and there maybe - but Sunday nights are my vice, they are my comfort time! Dream Team is a football drama. I know what you're thinking: Footballer's Wives V2.0. But you couldn't be more wrong if you tried, it's great! 24 is 24 is 24, absolutely brilliant show, constant drama etc. I do feel that this season (the 6th) is a little darker than the others, a little more intense...i don't know if i'm quite comfortable with it yet. Lost was good, but i was expecting a little more from this episode, the first after a 2 month break...aah well, you can't win 'em all!

I've also spent a good portion of my weekend exploring this massive game/internet community/freak show known as SECOND LIFE. It's pretty good, i must say. I've travelled to mini-representations of Rome, Dublin, New York, Los Angeles, meeting many different people as i go. All of this while wearing a simply amazing t-shirt, shown below:

Class, Huh?!?
Every person i've spoken to has been very polite and one guy even gave me money! I've now got $100 (Linden Dollars) to my name...not long until i become a millionaire, MUAHAHAHAHA!!! Umm, yeah...
Til next time (where i'll be talking about some of the more, shall we say, risque areas of Second Life, amongst other real-life issues)!

Argyle, Yellow Away Kit and Raiders

So, i went to watch Argyle play against Sunderland yesterday...less said the better i think. We were second best, and deserved to lose 2-0. Most of the lads played well, but one in particular did not...that man is contract-rebel Tony Capaldi.
Do us a favour Tony - if you don't want to play for us anymore, if you feel the grass is greener on the other side, if money is all that matters to you - sling your hook and save us the stress of watching your inept performances week-in, week-out. You had a shocker today, and the cynic inside of me says that you played that badly so as to not upset your potential new employers, come season's end. Well, that's not what loyalty is about, so get out of the club and let us bring a youth player through who will have more hunger and desire than you will ever have!
That's better...although, no it isn't.
In today's match programme, the chief executive has given the results of the away kit colour vote for next season't kit. He says that over 70% of the voters chose to have a YELLOW away kit for next season....YELLOW, i tell you!!! I won't be buying it, thats for sure...i don't fancy walking around the streets of Plymouth looking like a bag of sick, thankyou-very-much!
Of course, Puma (our kit manufacturers) were "very happy with the decision"...of course they were, they had probably already chosen the colour beforehand, the vote doesn't matter! There's no way that 70% of the voters could have got their fashion sense so terribly wrong...but then, this is Plymouth after all!
So, the next stage is for the fans to vote on one of three different, predominantly yellow shirt designs. Of course, Puma will already have chosen the one they want to make, and will already have started to make it by the time the "vote" has been "counted and verified by a panel of (corrupt) adjudicators".

Oh well, guess it saves me £40 next season...
Congratulations to Plymouth Raiders, who made the BBL Trophy Final on Friday night, beating Leicester Riders in the Semi-Final. Good luck for the Final!!!

Hello there!

Hi everyone!

How's it going?

I'm Chris, I'm 22 and from Plymouth, in Devon, which is in the UK for all those people reading from strange, foreign lands! I'm into football (Plymouth Argyle!) and enjoy most types of music and film - I'm a very varied person

I'm a student in my 3rd year at the College of St Mark and St John and I've been asked to write this blog as a task which forms part of a Computer Mediated Communications module in my I.T degree.

Don't worry, this blog isn't going to be boring, believe me! This is just my introduction post...
